Repetition of Courses and Academic Fresh Start
If a student repeats a course for which credit has previously been received, the higher grade is the grade of record. Neither the hours nor the grade points associated with the lower grade will be used to determine the student’s eligibility to graduate; however, the lower grade will remain on the student’s transcript and can affect the ability to graduate with honors.
Academic Fresh Start
The Texas Education Code, section 51.931, entitles residents of Texas the option to have coursework taken 10 or more years prior to the starting date of the semester in which the student plans to enroll either included or ignored for admission purposes. For additional information regarding the “right to an academic fresh start,” contact the Office of Admissions and Records.
